It was another gorgeous day here today....mid 70's...sunshine....puffy clouds...A Sunday to remember....

I thought I would show everyone my finished Family room....walls newly painted...hutch and entertainment center painted black.....I paired down on some of my prim accessories and Longaberger baskets....

The walls were a dark walnut paneling....painted them Montgomery Umber from Valspar....It really lightened up the room considerably...

This is my quilt shelf that I had already painted black....added homespun instead of a quilt.

These two pics are of my front and side windows....I bought Burgundy plaid curtains from Country House and add my beige sheers from JC Penneys underneath...

This is a prim arrangement that I have on top of the entertainment center.....

I have so many projects that I want to get done this summer....Tomorrow is June 1 already....Summer will be over before we know it......So everyone have a great week ahead....I'll be busy painting and doing some makeovers....hopefully I will get them posted later in the week...

Americana Bathroom makeover

As I mentioned in my last post I am doing a makeover in my bathroom downstairs....Here are some before pics ....I had it all Americana and I am changing it out to a darker beige on the walls with black accessories..

So stay tuned for the end results.....Hopefull I will be posting pics of the finished product within the next couple of days..

Happy Tuesday everyone....I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day.....We had are usual cookout on Sunday with family....It was beautiful here all weekend...sunshine and in the 80's....

We've been working allot out in my flowers beds this past week since the weather was just gorgeous all week long.....I went to Lowe's and bought some more perennials for my flower beds....got them planted and mulched ....I made a new bed of perennials down at the lower end of our yard....it has to be mulched yet and I need to get some mountain stone gathered up for around it.....and some prim's added before its completed......It's calling for rain here for the next couple of days so I guess it will have to wait for a bet to get done.

I started painting my downstairs bathroom/laundry room on Saturday....I got the shower wall done and put up my new Country House shower curtain....in Colonial star/Mustard...I bought the matching valance for the top to complete the look....I added my old wooden ironing board with a mustard towel and put my black star on the wall with the black Windsor chair in front of the ironing board.

I had the bathroom done in Americana....but got tired of the look so I am paining the walls and changing everything out.....The accessories are going to be done in mustard and black....I am fortunate enough to be able to paint and accessorize allot in my home....hubby just rolls his eyes when I start changing things around....He always comments how nice it looks afterwards...he's just not one for change....I'm just the opposite....

DSL not working.....

Hello all my blogging friends....Sorry I haven't been on all week...our DSL went out last Saturday night after having a thunder storm and just got it back to working today.....I talked to a technician Monday morning and they had to send my a new modem which took until Thursday....Tried to get it working last night to no avail...so had to call them back and they had to dispatch a phone repairer ....finally after six days without my pc I am back up and running..

I've been getting alot of my yard work done this week...Carport cleaned and all summer decor gotten out....Washed down the front porch to get rid of all the winter dirt..

Hopefully all is well with everyone....Off to get some more housework done....Have a great evening....

It's a beautiful Saturday.

I hope everyone is enjoying there Saturday....its in the 80' here today again....hot enough to run the central air....

I went out in my back yard and collected some of my old rusty cans that I have been letting out in the weather for a couple of months to rust up...We live out in the country so no one thinks I just throw my garbage outside....

I use just about any size of can I can get my hands on....coffee cans,bake bean cans,soup cans,Libby's pumpkin cans from Thanksgiving...They get rusty rather quickly...I just hate it when it gets windy though...I'm picking up cans all over my back yard..

This is how some of them turned out......now what can I use them for....

I went out to my local thrift store this morning and came home with this...Nothing really caught my eye that was forth bringing home....

I think I will just paint it black...sand it down then stain it...Another makeover on my many projects ....

Makeover completed

It was a dreary day here today ...some rain and sun...so that gave me an excuse to stay inside and finish up on my Summer Kitchen project......I got things pretty much back to where I want them,but that doesn't mean they will stay there....I'm a tweaker and I am proud to admit it...

I stripped the aged wall paper off the wall behind the window box and the Hoosier cabinet and painted it Montgomery Umber from Valspar...I hung barn boards with masonry nails and put allot of my small black baskets up there.

This is my dough board on my stove top.

This is the continuance of my kitchen from my stove around to the frig.

This is the out come of my tweaking on top of my frig.

That's about it for now....still doing makeovers and hopefully I will be posting some pics of them...So everyone have a good evening....

Thrift store Tuesday

Hello all my blogging friends...

It's going to be a nice day here in Pa. today...mid 60's to low 70's.It got down to the high 30's last night...a little chilly this morning...



I done two loads of laundry and hung them out to dry...beautiful sunshine to dry them....I hang most all my clothes out to dry when the weather is warm....I love to smell the clothes when they have been out to dry all day...It smell so good..



I'm in the process of making chicken corn soup for dinner tonight....Something quick and easy...and yummy.



Here is a bread box that I purchased at a local thrift store lately...so I thought I would show you my makeover....I just painted it black....sanded it alittle all over then stained it with walnut stain...It came out just perfect....
I have it in my kitchen upstairs...It stands out alot better against the tongue and grooved walls.

Makeover Monday

Hello all my blogging friends....

I thought I would post a pic of my window box that I have done over for in my summer kitchen.....I had bought it at a local prim shop a year ago and hung it up in my kitchen downstairs....I usually change the decor out for every season....so for the summer I added a grater...wooden spoons that I prim up...an old hand slicer ..a set of old utensils...potato masher..strainer...and fork..all arranged on a swag of pip berries.

I hung two black stars ...one on each side with a grubby candle and a twig wreath..Along the top of the window box I took two old barn boards and hammered old nails in them and made a peg board...I then took all my small black baskets and hung them on the nails...

I can see in the pic I need to center The Olde Homestead sign under the window box....those kind of things drive me nuts.....

Summer Kitchen

I don't know about anybody else... but there just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day to get done what I want done....Now that the days are getting longer...there seems to be so much outside to do in the yard and flower gardens, let alone what needs to be done inside...Oh well tomorrow is another day...

As promised from my last post...here is the finished product...My new and improved summer kitchen..

This is the far side of the kitchen that leads out to the carport that I finished up today..I still have some tweaking to do yet...not satisfied with a couple of things ...but its getting closer to being completed.....I just love the color that I used on the walls....Montgomery Umber from Valspar...

The Hoosier cabinet my son bought me last year for my birthday....I put it downstairs to compliment my kitchen....I have more of a Primitive decor downstairs...Actually we have two kitchens in our home...the one we use and I do all my cooking in is on the first floor...Our entire first floor is all tongue and grooved wood on the walls...That can be awhole other set of post...what our living quarters looks like....So stay tuned....

Whatcha workin on Wednesday

The sun is finally shinning after four days of rain.....I know they always say that we need rain for everything to grow and prosper...but this is ridiculous........Another way of looking at it is..I am getting alot done in my house..I started painting my summer kitchen ...I used the same color of paint ..Montgomery Umber..that I used to paint my family room downstairs....

Sunshine Saturday

Its a beautiful day here today....I thought I would show everyone my ferns that I got for my front porch yesterday at my local garden center.....I wanted to get them early...with Mothers Days approaching they are usually picked over by next weekend.....
I have to clean the porch yet and get out all my summer decor...this isn't how I have it done for summer...I just wanted to get ahead of everyone and go and buy my ferns so I could get the best of the crop...














I bought this forsythia wreath at Jo Ann fabrics for my front door for spring.

Off to get some yard work done today....Everyone have a great Saturday..
