I Love Summer

Happy Sunday everyone...
I thought I would share a few outside shots of our home
all decorated for Summer...
From my white rocking chairs on the front porch to
the ferns swaying in the breeze..
The geraniums standing proudly in the flower boxes to
the olde bicycle leaning against the split rail fencing..
A little white tricycle against a olde wooden door...
Olde wooden birdhouses setting amongst the watering
cans on an olde painted bench.....
I hope you enjoy seeing some of our Summer Thyme  displays at
the Olde Homestead...

Thanks for stopping in for a visit..
Come back when you get a chance...
Have a safe and relaxing Sunday..
Take care and God Bless...

Memorial Day weekend and lots more....

Hello everyone...
I hope you had a wonderful and relaxing Memorial Day weekend like we did here at the
Olde Homestead...
We had our family cookout on Sunday afternoon..which was a day early
but it fit in with everyones schedules so we went with that day....
Good food..lots of laughter and just a lot of fun times spent with the family....
I couldn't have ask for anything more......

As I've said in previous posts we have been working on remodeling our downstairs.
I thought I would share some photos of the progress so far...
This is one area of the sunroom that I pretty much finished decorating so far..

We took out the sliding glass doors to open up the archway..
It flows so much better into the Summer Kitchen and ties the two rooms together.
I like the look of the two rooms so much better now...

Well I'm off to get some work done...I hope you have a wonderful day..
Thanks for stopping by for a visit..come back when you get a chance....

Changes..Changes and more Changes..

Hello everyone..
I hope all is well with everyone and your getting geared up for the warm months ahead.
It's been unseasonable warm here for over a month, I think we missed Spring and jumped
right into Summer..I'm not complaining..I would rather have warm sun shinning days that cold dreary days.

Its been quite awhile since my last post and allot
has been happening here at the Olde Homestead..
We started remodeling our Sun Room over in the fall and one
thing led to another...You all no how that is..Finish up one
project and start on another one..That's how it has been
here. Its finally winding down and projects have been finished..Thank heavens...

I have been slowly getting out my Summer decor and thought
I would share a few pictures of a summer vignette I put together in my
Summer Kitchen..
We put down Mohawk..Virginia Oak flooring in the Sun room
and continued on into the Summer Kitchen..I love how
it ties both rooms together..

Thanks for stopping in for a visit..
Come back when you get time out of your busy schedules..

I promise I won't be away for so long the next time
More pictures of the remodeling coming soon so keep
watching for an update..

Have a wonderful day.

Yellow Ware Bowls and Son...

Hello everyone..
I hope all is well and your all settling into a new year...
I can't believe this month is almost over..but Spring is on its
way so that gives us all something to look forward to..
Warm temperatures..White puffy clouds and gorgeous blue sky...

This Winter has been the mildest on record here in Pa..
We had 4 inches of snow last Saturday..only the second snowfall this Winter..
I'm not complaining I'll just be glad when Spring and Summer is here..

I apologize for not being on here allot..I check in every so often to see how
everyone is doing but we've been working on the remodeling of the Sun room non stop..
The wood flooring is the last thing to be done...The walls are finished along with the wainscoting..The beams are stained along with the crown molding..The fireplace mantel that I had gotten out of  my
Grandparents farmhouse was given a new look and installed ...I am so
ready for this room to be done..It seems like we have been working
on it forever..I'll have to take some pictures and show you all the progress we have
made but I'll save that for another post...

I did want to share something my son had bought me when we were out antiquing this
past month...I have looked for these every time we would be out but never could
find any...It just happened by accident that we had stopped at this Antique shop while on
our way to another shop ...I couldn't believe my eyes when I seen these on a shelf..
Around this area of the country everyone hangs on to there collectibles and they are
very hard to find..
The gentleman that owns the Antique Shop confirmed that these bowls are rarely at
any of the Estate sales that he attends and he very seldom sees any up for sale...
So when I seen these babies you better believe they were coming home with me..lol

I'm going to give credit where credits due my son very generously bought me all four of
these bowls.....He knew I've been looking for these for along time and he very graciously
bought them for me..One of my pet peeves is when someone doesn't tell the truth and takes
credit for something they have...Give Credit Where Credits Due...Don't lie..don't act like
you bought it..just tell the truth..its very simple.
No ones going to judge you for telling the truth...Just be honest...

With that said I set all four of the bowls on top of my Hoosier Cabinet for now...
With the rearranging of the Summer Kitchen and the finishing up of the Sun Room which
flow into one another they will set proudly on my Hoosier Cabinet for the time being..

Overlook the yellow stains on the cabinet..I've tried everything
I could think of to clean them off but they won't budge..
I want to leave the cabinet as is because the chipped paint and stains give it so much character...
You can tell it was a well used cabinet and that's what I liked about it.

Thank you all for stopping by for a visit..
Come back when you get a few minutes out of your busy schedules...
Have a great day...take care and stay safe...
