~~~Birthday Gift~~~

I thought I would share a few pictures of the gift I received from my son for my birthday tomorrow...I've been wanting to get an area rug for in our Living room for sometime now...The green carpet is so over whelming ..believe you me this color was not my choice but at the time the house was being built it was a really good price.When I seen this oriental rug on sale and it had all the colors that I was looking for..I knew then how much of a difference it would make our Living room look and I was so right...It just gave the room a whole different look...which was what I was trying to accomplish.......

~~~A FEW MAKEOVERS``

Its a cool rainy Sunday here today in Central Pa...quite a difference then this past month temperatures...most days were in the mid to high 90's..

I thought I would share some makeovers that I done yesterday on two of the benches that I've been wanting to get done before summer is over....
This bench goes with the drop leaf table that I have in my Summer Kitchen....
I painted it black and set it in my sun room for now until I decide where I want to put it...

This bench I bought a few weeks ago at a yard sale for $30.00...

I painted it black and put it in the Family room  for  now...I'm sure it won't stay there but for now its serving its purpose...

~~Early Birthday Present~~

and somethings I bought while out junking these past couple of weeks...

I hope all is well with everyone on this gorgeous Saturday. Here in Central,Pa.the weather has been beautiful this past week...mid to high 80's...no humidity and lots of beautiful sunshine..
Were still busy helping out our elderly neighbor...being really close to finishing up the job..hopefully within a couple of more weeks all the work will be done and then we can finally sit back and enjoy the rest of the summer....what little is left of it...I can't believe how fast this summer has flown by...the kids will be going back to school in another month and football season will be upon us..

With all that said and out of my system..forgive me for rambling on...I get like that sometimes...
Onto my pictures...
I went out and bought myself an early birthday present for in the hallway downstairs...I've been wanting to by some oriental rugs for along time now....they are so darn expensive...that I have just been putting it off mainly because they are not really a necessity.
This is a 2 foot by 8 foot runner...burgundy with black and cream..I wanted a dark color combination so it stands out against the ceramic tile that is on the floor...The tile is so darn cold that I wanted something that can with stand the traffic flow and still look good...So I went with this runner ...












Here is a closeup of the design...

And these are a few things I picked up while out on a junking trip...an old picnic basket to add to my collection...

Burgundy homespun tea towels...a set of four..

and four blue ticking tea towels ...

~~Somemore new goodies~~

Lancaster electric candle....This is on my old sewing machine in the downstairs Family room.

Plate/candle holder....I hung this piece on my stone wall in my Summer kitchen..

Port smith Table lamp....I set this on my old school desk in our Family room..

Star plate with holder....It is setting on my buffet...

Textiles....I bought a set of six of these to use around my home...

Tin based electric candle....This I set in my old sifter on my wood stove in the downstairs Family room.

And last but not least I bought five pair of Prairie curtains...four of the Sturbridge Gathered design for the Master bedroom and one of the Apple Jack Gathered design for in the office....I'll save pictures of them for another time....
So I hope you all enjoyed looking at my new treasures I bought for my home...I'm one that cannot pass up a good bargain and when I seen everything 50% off  I couldn't take items off the shelves fast enough.....

~~New goodies as promised~~

Chamber stick candle holder...was mustard...painted it black..added the black punched tin shade...















Colonial Box...added geraniums and displayed it on the dough board...
