~~Signs of Spring~~

With the temperature hitting 82 on Monday it brought the forsythia bushes out in all of there glory..

This is the greeting you receive when you pull into our driveway...

Now your pulling up to the house....
I also gave my two old bicycles a new coat of white paint while the weather was nice and
set them in my flower bed for summer..

See the Covered bridge and the Church peeking Thur the bush.....
This is in the back  yard of the Olde Homestead.
Along side of the Olde Homestead...

Rough day today.....

Our beloved Beagle..Duke...passed away today..
He was a stray that came to our home 9 years ago this summer...
He's been having health problems over the past winter and we knew his time with us
was coming to an end..
We loved him like one of our children and he is going to be
greatly missed..

Thanks for letting me cry for this little man that was a big part of our lives..
He was and still is my little boy...

~~Pinkeeps~~

Hello all prim friends..
It's finally Friday and I am so ready for the weekend..
The weekend is supposed to be beautiful here so I am planning on working
out in the yard both days...I worked 7 hours yesterday cleaning up sticks and leaves that gathered over
the winter....
I gathered more mountain stone and started another flower bed that I would like to get done within the
next couple of days..Today was a rainy day so nothing was accomplished outside..
I am so grateful that we have allot of acreage here but when the Spring rolls around ..
cleaning it all up is another story..
My muscles felt it this morning when I got out of bed..
Sore where I've never been sore before..

With the warmer temperatures this week are forsythia bushes finally opened up...Cluster of yellow everywhere..Such a beautiful sight for Spring..

I also got my Front door and Sun room door painted...
I'll post pictures of them at another time...
I've been wanting to paint them for this good while but just couldn't find the right color..
It had to be a darker color nothing light because of it blending into much with the stone
on the house..
So that's another project that was crossed off my to do list this week.

In the evenings I did get to finish up on some pin keeps that I've been working on for Spring and Easter..
The first two patterns are free from Betty over at

~~Mantel..Spring Thyme~~

Happy Tuesday everyone..
It's alittle chilly here today..only in the 40's..
yesterday it was up in the 70's...30 degree temperature difference...

I'll be so glad like the rest of you when Spring arrives for good...
This up and down temperatures are ridiculous..
Summer can't get here soon enough for me..

I was visiting Linda's blog..
http://www.behindmyreddoor.blogspot.com/
a couple of days ago and seen how she took cuttings from her forsythia bushes and placed them in a vase of warm water to force the buds to bloom...
That gave me an idea for my mantel for Spring...
So out in the yard I go with my handy clippers and cut a large basket full of forsythia stems..
Took out some of my blue mason jars and filled them with warm water and
filled all the jars with forsythia stems and within a couple of days all the buds were open ...
Thanks Linda for the wonderful tip....

With all that said here's my Mantel all ready for Spring Thyme to get here...

Even thought it looks like Spring Thyme here in the Olde Homestead I'm still longing for the warm temperatures..blue sunny skies..birds chirping and my gardens blooming with bright seasonal flowers..I guess we all just need to practice patience...With due time the seasons will come..

Thanks for stopping by for a visit..
Come back when you get time..

~~~Kitchen Tweaking~~
Happy April 1 and April Fools Day everyone...
Its another cold and rainy day here today..A good day to do some changing and rearranging..
I've been working on the top of my Kitchen cupboards this week..cleaning the dust bunnies that always seem to appear out of no where up there...
I wanted something different for the Spring and Summer Season so I gathered a few of my Longaberger Baskets.
Some of my Blue Canning Jars w/zinc lids..
a few of my wooden totes and some kitchen wares..
and a couple of my wooden signs I made..
Put them all together and this is what I came up with...
This is starting on the left side of the kitchen going around to the right side..
Well now that is finished I need to get onto my next job and get the wooden beams cleaned of all there dust bunnies..
Have a great weekend everyone..
Thanks for stopping in for a visit..
Come back when you get time.
