~~Doing some stitching~~

I've been taking breaks in my house cleaning by taking the time to do some sewing..
I've been wanting to make some pillows for on my chairs and bed so in the evenings I dig out my
stitching while watching TV. I stitched them on ornsburg then tea dyed them for a aged look.

These aren't completely finished..I have to add some sort of backing to them..I don't know if I want to do just ornsburg or homespun..

These are stitching patterns from Create and Decorate magazine...

Primitive...done in black thread.
Bless all things primitive..done in burgundy  thread.
Hip pity Hop pity...Easters on its way..done in brown thread...

Hip pity Hop pity..Easters on its way done with brown thread for the bunny and burgundy for the verse.
and The Lord is my Shepard..I shall not want..Psalms:23
done by Emma in 1784
done in black thread for the verse and white for the sheep...I think I am going to go over the sheep with black thread so it stands out more..Its blending in to much with the dyed ornsburg.
Thanks everyone for stopping by...and for the wonderful comments...
Take care and be safe where ever you are...

~~Changing and Rearranging~~

Hello everyone,
I hope all is well and your all trying to stay warm..
Its been extremely cold and blustery here in Central Pa. this whole month of January...
We've had snow storms going thru is seems just about every week ....Fortunately not as much as other parts of the country that seems to get hammered every other day......
All we can do is just try to stay positive and keep thinking Spring is just around the corner....Warm weather..bright blue sky's and white puffy clouds...

I've been keeping myself busy house cleaning...To cold to be outside so I figured I'd get my Spring cleaning done ..
I started downstairs on my Summer Kitchen..finished it up then moved on to my Family room..
Here' a few pictures of my Family room...cleaned and rearranged...with a touch of Spring...

These two chairs belonged to my Grandparents..

That will just about do it for this post..
Thank you all for stopping by for a visit..
Take care..stay warm and be safe..

~~Summer Kitchen...new look~~

Hello all prim peeps...
I hope all is well with everyone...
Its been bitterly cold and snowing here in Central Pa..nothing to amount to anything until this past
Tuesday into Wednesday...there's about 3 to 4 inches on the ground...We got off pretty easy compared to other folks...
I've been nesting on these cold days and I figured  why not get started on my Spring cleaning...
I started right after putting my Christmas decor away...wanting to change things around and simplifying..

As I had said in other posts, I did a makeover on my Summer kitchen over the fall months...
I painted my walls buttery yellow and added pineapple stencil as a boarder...
The barn boards that were on the lower half of the wall I painted them a satin white...
I installed bead board as the back splash...painted them white then sanded and aged them with Minwax, walnut stain..
Bought Caromel Colors paint in peppercorn and painted my counter tops....
I then took leftover bead board and cut it to size and added it in the back of my open shelves..Sewed homespun black and cream curtains and hung them draped back on both sides...

We had bought an oak table acouple of years ago at an estate sale..I couldn't believe someone had painted it a bright red...DH stripped it down to the bare wood and restainted it back to its original form..
I was looking for a smaller round table to replace the drop leaf table that I had in the Summer kitchen. So when the Oak table was finished you all know where it went...right in my newly remolded Summer Kitchen..
It fit perfect along with the old wooden chairs that he refinished...I have a whole new kitchen set without even going to the furniture store..
and the best part of it is that DH did not help me one little bit on remodelling my new Summer Kitchen...I did it all on my own..using power tools and all...
With all that being said here's a few pictures of my new and improved Summer Kitchen...

Thank you all for stopping by for a visit..
Wishing everyone a safe and wonderful weekend..

Happy 2011 and drysink redo...

Happy 2011 everyone...I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and celebrated ringing in the New Year with family and friends...
We had a very nice Christmas Eve with our Daughter, Kristin and Travis ( our new son-in-law) and our son Joe...Since this was the first Christmas for Kristin and Travis as a newly married couple.. they wanted to spend the day at there home so we all got together on Christmas Eve and exchanged gifts..I backed a ham  and made homemade macaroni and cheese....along with a meat and cheese tray...chips and dip...and lots and lots of Christmas cookies and punch...
Christmas day was spent just relaxing and enjoying a meal of Turkey and all the trimmings..

By mid week I started taking down all the Christmas decorations and by Friday the 12ft. tree was down and put away..It was allot easier coming down then it was putting up...Now the fun begins....Cleaning and rearranging the furniture and accessories...
I done over my Dry sink today....tried different displays and not totally satisfied with the look..
So I went outside and cut two bundles of greens from my Azalea bushes and put them in one of my wooden drawers for the top shelf and used a Blue Enamelware Coffeepot for the second grouping...

Thing's are pretty much back to normal here at the Olde Homestead...The days spent just enjoying the slowed down pace of everyday life...
Santa was good to us and the New Year came in pretty quiet...so with that said I need to start on my brand new To Do List and get some projects underway...
I hope the New Year ahead brings good health...happiness and well being for all you ladies that stop in for a visit...Thank you for all the wonderful comments...Take care and God Bless...
