Hardwood floors.......

Hello prim friends...
I hope all is well with everyone on this cold snowy day...
Another winter day here in Central Pa...high winds...snow...white outs...but what else is new...its still winter and I guess we have to expect this...
With that said I thought I would show you what I do twice a week on my hands and knees...Scrubbing and waxing my hardwoods floors...
I use Murphy's Oil Soap to clean them... then go over them with Orange Glo....You can use the Orange Glo for the cleaning but I prefer using Murphy's Oil Soap....it does abetter job and I highly recommend it on hardwood floors...

We have hardwood floors in our Kitchen...Hallway and Master Bath...With all the tongue and groove wood on the walls the floor really blends in well and is easy to keep clean...
I didn't get to finish my prim ditty bags that I was working on the other day....A need to do alittle more of the stitching and coffee dye them...so hopefully I can find time today..So thanks for stopping by for a visit....wishing everyone a safe and wonderful weekend....
Prim hugs to all,

Ditty Bags....Spring Thyme

Hello all prim friends....

I hope all is well with everyone...

Were getting ready for another Northeastern heading our way today here in central Pa..
Not much snow expected...just hurricane winds....
Hubby and I went in town to the store to get milk and bread....the store was like a mad house...you'd think everyone is going to be home bound for months on end the way people were grabbing things off the shelf's....Unbelievable.....

I've been busy the past couple of days making homemade peanut butter eggs for Easter....getting a heads up on my candy making....Instead of waiting until the last minute...

I'm trying to stay busy thruout the day...this weather is just getting to be annoying....I've never in my life felt this anxious for warm weather to come....Just counting the days until spring...

In the sewing department I made up some ditty bags last night for on my peg racks around my home..I got them coffee dyed this morning....wrinkles pressed out....artificial flowers added into them...

I also sewed three primitive ditty bags with two done with willow trees stitched on them and one with a crow....Hopefully I can get them finished up sometime today and show pics of them tomorrow...

So this post will be fairly short today....I need to get some laundry done along with cleaning and waxing my hardwood floors...

Thanks all for stopping by.....wishing everyone a wonderful day and stay safe...

Prim hugs to all,

A little bit of Spring Thyme

Hello everyone....

Like the rest of you all over the country I am so tired of looking out the window and seeing nothing but snow...

I've been adding alittle bit of spring around my home these past couple of weeks to lift everyone spirits and to add some hope that spring is just around the corner...

This arrangement I put in my old loaf pan and set on the windowsill at my kitchen sink...

The next two arrangements I put in my long john baskets and hung them on my Frenchdoors ...

I don't add alot of fake flowers in my arrangements around my home..

but this time of year just alittle bit of color makes the world of difference..

Thanks for stopping by for a visit and I wish everyone a wonderful weekend...

PFALTZGRAFF COLLECTION

Hello everyone....

I thought I would show you all my collection of Pfaltzgraff dinnerware that we have had for many years and I use it everyday for dinner..

I went on the Pfaltzgraff website to research the dinnerware and thought you would enjoy reading the description they gave for this Folk Art design...
The Folk Art design illustrates the simplicity of an earlier time..The early salf-glazed pottery made by Pfaltzgraff were the inspiration for the Folk Art collection...

My collection consists of 8 Dinner plates..

8 Soup/Cereal Bowls, 8 Salad Plates and 8 cups and saucers...

I arranged them on my shelfs in my Summer kitchen to take the pictures but there back in my cupboard for my everyday use..
I hope you all enjoyed reading alittle bit of history...
Thanks for stopping by and the wonderful comments..
Hugs to all,

Make do chair...Its done........

Here we go again......The snow started yesterday and dumped a foot of snow over night and with white out conditions we couldn't even get outside to plow what snow was on the ground..
Today is another day plowing and shoveling out from the blizzard of 2010...

Keeping me inside gave me the opportunity to finish up my make do chair that I started last weekend when the first blizzard hit......I took an old chair that I had gotten from my grandparents farmhouse...

Took the seat cover off....I just unscrewed it from underneath the seat..

Painted the legs and seat area with flat black paint....I only gave it one coat of paint ....so it looked more aged...

Covered the seat with my homespun material....I used my nail gun to attach it from underneath..then screwed it back onto the chair frame...

Using plywood ...I cut out two back panels and two side panels for the arms...I made a L shape for the arms and attached them and the back to the frame of the chair...

Wrapped the plywood with quilt batting and then covered the batting with my homespun material......It took alittle time working with the material to keep it from wrinkling but I just took my time and I am pleased at the outcome of my first make do chair......I cut some muslin and coffee dyed it for the linen over the arm rest and for a throw for over the corner of the chair...Set my prairie doll on it and wa la ....its finished...

By no means do I think that I am a pro at this....I am far from it....This was my first attempt at making one of these chairs...

When I see things in stores that are priced to far out my price range to buy it I just give it a good once over and see how it is made ......If you have the tools at home and the know how to run them its alot cheaper to make them yourself then paying outrageous prices in the stores...

I'm fortunate enough that hubby showed me how to use the power tools....I think he only done that because he got tired of me bugging him to make me things..... If I get stuck on something he is good to help me with the measuring and cutting of the wood...
So thanks for stopping by for a visit....I wish good health and happiness to everyone...
Until next time...
Prim hugs,
Trena

Crock Collection

Hello all prim friends..
I hope all is well with everyone this cold February morning...

We are getting hammered again with a blizzard here in Central Pa...up to 8 more inches of snow as I speak....All the schools are closed....highways completely bare...I haven't seen one car all morning...
Hubby and I are just waiting for the snow to stop so we can get outside once again to plow the driveway and shovel the sidewalks.....This is getting old real fast...Spring can't come soon enough for me...

With all that said I showed you some textures thru out my home on yesterdays post so I thought today I would show some pictures of my Crock collection...This isn't all of them..I'll post some today and finish up with them tomorrow...

I hoped you enjoyed looking at part of my crock collection....Thanks for stopping by for a little visit...
Take care and stay warm...
Hugs to all,

Textures in my home

Hello all prim friends...
I hope all is well with everyone and those of you that live in the Eastern part of the country like I do got yourself dug out from all the snow over the weekend...
We had 24 inches of snow that started Friday and didn't stop until Saturday lunch time...
Were expected another 7 - 10 inches starting sometime this afternoon...all night into tomorrow morning...
I don't know about all of you but I am so sick of snow and so ready for spring to come....

I am still working on my make do chair that I got started a few days ago....With being outside plowing and shoveling snow I didn't get it done as soon as I had hoped to..
I worked on it last night for alittle while and got all of the batting on....
Hopefully I can get it finished up this evening with the snow coming we'll be stuck inside once again...
With that said I thought I would show you some of the textures that I have around my home...

Thanks for stopping by for a visit and the nice comments that are left....I'll be posting some more pictures tomorrow of textures thruout my home....so if you get a chance stop on in and say hello...
Prim hugs to all,
Trena
